Chiefs Update 2 - Week before Regular Season

The Kansas City Chiefs prepare to face the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale, Arizona in Week 1.

After a rigorous training camp and preseason, the Kansas City Chiefs are taking a week off to mentally recharge and prepare to face their first opponent, the Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs open as 6-point favorites to win the match, a spread that will excite many Chiefs fans for their first game. Many Chiefs fans are happy to see their team play after the Chiefs lost in overtime vs the Cincinnati Bengals last January. Fans hope that this game will result in the first of many wins.

The Chiefs will play the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium
in Glendale, Arizona.

There are many new players that fans are excited to see play in a Chiefs uniform. Juju Smith-Schuster was traded to the Chiefs from Pittsburgh, he is expected to replace Tyreek Hill as Mahomes' number one option at Wide Receiver. Martin Valdez-Scantling was traded to the Chiefs from Green Bay, he is expected to be Mahomes' second option at Wide Reciever. Both receivers bring a new element to the Chiefs' offense that will certainly entertain fans for many years to come. One concern that fans have brought to widespread attention is the absence of former Chiefs star receiver Tyreek Hill. Hill was traded to Miami back in March after the Chiefs and Hill could not come to an agreement on a new contract. Hill was considered a generational talent by many for his blazing speed and catching ability. We will see how our two new studs at receiver pick the load off of the offense's back this Sunday.

Many critics of the Chiefs doubt that the team can win their 7th straight AFC West title this season. With the absence of Tyreek Hill and some very well-rounded opponents in their division, such as the Raiders, Broncos, and Chargers, it is the first time in years many fans have felt concerned about their beloved football team. I personally think that the Chiefs are going to have much more competition in the division this year. With the development of Chargers Quarterback Justin Herbert and the recent signing of former Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson to the Broncos, the Chiefs' defense needs to be on their heels this season. I am of course very hopeful our team will once again not only bring the AFC West title back home, but another AFC championship, and a Superbowl.
