Chiefs Update 9 - Week 7

The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 44-23

It was a beautiful day in the San Francisco area when the Chiefs arrived for a rematch with their Superbowl LIV opponent. Coming off of a loss the previous week versus Buffalo, the Chiefs were looking to secure a win heading into their bye week, which is exactly what they did. It was the star running back Christian McCaffrey's first game with the 49ers after acquiring him with a trade on the Thursday before the game, and he was looking great in the first quarter. The 49ers looked unstoppable, scoring a touchdown on the opening drive of the game. When the Chiefs' offense took possession of the football, it ended with a Mahomes interception that gave the 49ers a good field position. After the turnover, the Chiefs never looked back and started to look like the team we all know and love. The Chiefs ended up scoring 44 points in the game behind Mahomes' 423 yards passing, three touchdown passes, and 73% completion percentage. Mecole Hardman scored three touchdowns on the day, including the first rushing touchdown of his NFL career. The Chiefs will head into the bye week feeling good about this statement win against a solid team on the road. They will face the Tennesse Titans at home on Sunday Night Football on November 6th.

Frank Clark faces a two-game suspension

Coming off of a very strong game in San Francisco with 1.5 sacks, Frank Clark will, unfortunately, have to sit out the next two games. Coming off of a 2021 arrest in Los Angeles for felony possession of a concealed firearm, the NFL has decided to finally punish the Defensive End. In March 2021, Clark was pulled over for a routine traffic stop. A police officer noticed two firearms in the car, and he was then placed under arrest for this violation. In June of 2021, Clark was arrested a second time and this time charged with a felony for the same crime. Clark was sentenced to one year of probation and 40 hours of community service for his crimes. Until now, the NFL has not punished Clark for these two arrests. Clark's suspension comes one game after the completion of teammate Willie Gay's suspension for a crime in Overland Park. The Chiefs' defense needs to learn to behave!
