Chiefs Update 5 - Week 3

A performance that left many fans scratching their heads as the

Chiefs lose 20-17 in Indianapolis

As the Chiefs made the short trip to Indianapolis to play their third game of the season, the expectation between Chiefs fans, oddsmakers, and the league was that the Chiefs were going to demolish the Colts. We were all very wrong about the outcome of this game. The Chiefs have had a long history of losing to the Colts, dating back to their 2014 playoff loss when they barely lost 45-44. During the Chief's Superbowl run in 2019, the Chiefs put up the second-fewest amount of points with Mahomes starting at quarterback with just 13 in a loss. The so-called, "Colt's Curse," continued as the Chiefs struggled on special teams. It started with a muffed punt by Skyler Moore to set up an easy touchdown for the Colt's offense. The now former Chief's kicker, Danny Amendola, missed an extra point and a 35-yard field goal that most definitely would've given the Chiefs a win. With the ball in Mahomes' hands with 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter and down only by 3, Mahomes threw an interception and sealed their first loss of the season. The Chiefs head to Tampa Bay next Sunday in the two teams' first meeting since Super Bowl LV.

to put the team up 20-17.

Hurricane Ian makes landfall on the West Coast of Florida

With the Chiefs next away game being in Tampa Bay, many people are concerned if the Tampa area will be suitable to play in come Sunday. The league has taken notice. If the hurricane worsens by Sunday and the league determines it is not safe for the teams and fans to make the trip to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, they will play their game as scheduled at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Minneapolis has an empty stadium this week as the Vikings make a trip to London to play the Saints. The NFL last put a contingency plan like this into place back in 2013 when the Buffalo Bills faced the New York Jets in Detroit, Michigan when an extreme blizzard hit Buffalo making it impossible to play a game there. Ironically, the Chiefs last played Tampa Bay in Super Bowl LV which was in Tampa Bay. It was the first time ever a Super Bowl had been played at a home city and not a neutral site. Hopefully, this game will provide the neutral site Chiefs fans once begged for.
